ProNutro Run The AfricanX 2015

Kyle Redelinghuys

This past weekend, one of the most beautiful races was held at Houw Hoek Inn in Grabouw. Set over three days, ProNutro Run The AfricanX covers a total of 90km with 2600m in elevation gain. After watching the footage from the event, I couldn't help but do a feature on it. All images, media and results from the event organisers Stillwater Sports and Newsport Media. Take a look at some of the incredible scenery that this race offers.

The stages, as described by the organisers:

Stage 2 brings about a new starting venue at Mount Rozier, athletes will be transported from the Houw Hoek Inn to the start via bus. The 34km route will finish at Paul Cluver Amphitheatre with a 1100m ascent.

Stage 3, the last and final day of the ProNutro AfricanX sets off from the Houw Hoek Inn for what promises to be 22km of spectacular racing. Day three sees the runners facing a 660m ascent.

If this wasn't enough to entice you, grab a seat and watch some highlights over the three days. The scenery is breathtaking and the atmosphere looks incredible, as expected from the fantastic trail running community we all know and love. Below are the highlight reels from this year (If you're just interested in the results, scroll further down).

Every finisher achieved something amazing, and there were loads of favourites coming in the podium positions, with the top competitors including the teams of AJ Calitz/Bernard Rukadza, Megan Mackenzie/Landie Greyling, Eric Ngubane/Thabang Madiba and Nicolette Griffioen/Carla Van Huyssteen. Having looked into this race, and seeing all of the camaraderie and scenery, I am definitely doing this next year. See you then, ProNutro Run The AfricanX 2016!
