The FNB Platinum Trail Run is looking to be quite the event! Not only is Megan Mackenzie (recent South African Long Distance Trail Champion) making her debut for this race, long time favourites Thabang Madiba and Lucky Miya are ready to tackle this race head on!

The third running of the FNB Platinum Trail Run has been met with much enthusiasm with a number of top trail runners signing up for an experience like no other. Two top trail runners that will be gunning for gold come Sunday, 24 May 2015 are Lucky Miya and Thabang Madiba.

“Placing 2nd at the FNB Platinum Trail Run in 2014 was great as the field was strong,” says Miya. “I enjoyed the route as well as the spectacular scenery. The 24km route is technical and features both jeep and single track. There is a river crossing. In a nutshell the route is challenging and fast, but very enjoyable. I’d recommend the 24km route because it’s a true test of your physical fitness. Just take it easy, focus and enjoy the beauty of trail running. My goal will be to give my best, while enjoying the run”. Earlier this year Miya placed 2nd at the South African Trail Run Champs in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

According to Madiba, he entered the FNB Platinum Trail Run because of its speed. “It’s one of the faster trail races in Gauteng and this will be the third time that I take part. The route features all terrain types. I strongly believe this is what attracts so many runners every year. Finishing the race will be my number one goal, while finishing top three will be a bonus”. Madiba narrowly missed the podium in 2014, finishing 4th in a time of 01 hour 34 minutes 49 seconds.
