Hennops, a revisit

Kyle Redelinghuys

Last week Sunday, we decided to do Rietvlei for our weekly hikes. On arrival, it was made clear that the Rietvlei Dam we were at wasn't all that great for hiking, and that there was a Rietvlei Nature Reserve we could hike at, but that needed to be booked in advance. After searching the web and calling various places, I suggested I take Dino and Vic to Hennops. After they missed last week's hike to Hennops I'd said I needed to take them there, I just didn't know it would be the very next week.

We did the same route as I had previously done. Even though I'd just been on the hike, I still loved every second of it. There is so much to the trail, and a second time around I noticed things I hadn't seen the previous weekend. We had quite a relaxed pace, saw a scorpion, and some strange "fire pit" that remains a mystery to this day.

For a more detailed run down of the amazing Hennops trail you can read my previous post on it. I can say this categorically: if you are looking for good distance, loads of variety and a generally awesome trail give Hennops a try, you won't be disappointed.
